The Old House...

My old house in Texas was built in 1886 by the first sheriff of Hardin County. A couple of years later, it was purchased by my great grandparents and it has been in the family ever since. I spent much of my childhood here. (We grew up next door in the "New House" and that's how it got the nickname the "Old House.")

The house is a dog-trot or dog-run house that has been modified very little since it was constructed... very few of them still exist in this condition. A dog-trot is a central hallway running through the center of the house with two rooms off each side and a porch on each end. It's such a happy, beautiful place that a few people have said it's their favorite house to be in. One thing's for certain, it will always be home and I miss it all the time.

God has put the dream in my heart to return to Texas and restore it someday. I'd like to divide my time between there and Wyoming.

Some old photos...

My great-grandparents, the Herringtons, who lived in the house with their children...

My grandmother, great-grandmother and great-aunt who is my namesake...

This portrait of my great grandfather still hangs in the dog trot...

Snow days are rare in Southeast Texas...

Interior photos take in the 1980s. (Please forgive the colors... As I said, it was the 80s)...
