A giant bone to pick on Fur Friends Friday...

When you live on a cattle ranch with four dogs you never know what they're going to drag into the yard. And since we have a pet door, sometimes these "treasures" wind up in the house. Some of the things I have found in my house are way too disgusting to mention.

But when I saw this dried-up old cow bone in the bedroom, it made me laugh.

Cowboy actually saw June Bug bring this thing inside. He said it was quite amusing to watch her finagle it through the dog door. It took more than one attempt since it's wider than the door opening. Bug weighs 25 lbs and the bone weighs 2 lbs. That would be like me lugging around something that weighs 14 lbs... in my mouth.
As you probably know by now, Bug hates cameras so I made Scooter, who weighs 9 lbs, pose next to it so you can see how big it is. He was not pleased.

I tossed the bone outside after the photo shoot but it'll probably wind up back inside eventually. If I want to keep it out, I'll have to take it far away.

Please join the Fur Friends Friday party by linking to a post about your pet. The post does not need to be recent.

  5. I lived in Bahrain, just off the coast of Saudi Arabia for three years. My house there was near a small village where the residents used to kill a lamb and roast it on an outdoor spit. My dog would come home with the various parts of the lamb they did not want to roast. I never knew what I would find when I opened the door. I suppose to our doggies, these bones and other icky parts are great treasures! Have a great and bone free weekend!!

  6. OMG! That is so funny. A few years ago I found a small foot stool in our backyard that our Riley carried outside. Not sure yet why he did that. Buy why do our doggies do some of the crazy stuff that they do?

  7. Oh I remember the days when you would hear my mom scream because of what the cat dragged in not the dog. You know, the half dead mice the cat would continue to play with instead of eat. Funny story, the dog does not like to get picture taken, that made me laugh more.
