Thoughts on the Old House kitchen...

Cowboy bought me a subscription to Coastal Living for Christmas. Well, at least he signed me up for it. I paid the invoice last week. It's the thought that counts, right? But nevermind how I got it.

March was my first issue and, already, I'm inspired.

So, what I'm thinking is that this kitchen...

Would be perfect in this room in the Old House...

But, knowing how much I hate too cook, maybe I should just keep the current kitchen, which is a much smaller room with a lower ceiling...

And make it look like this...

I would love to provide a photo credit and link but I don't remember where
I got it and it's one of my all-time favorite kitchens so I just had to show you!

Don't you adore the sink?!? Swoon!

But maybe I'm still taking up too much space with the kitchen. Instead, maybe I should just do something like this...

Visions of Grandeur kitchen from Traditional Homes

It's gorgeous, even though it's small, don't you agree?

But then I think...

If I had a big, beautiful, functional kitchen, surely, I would want to entertain, right? (It's a nice thought but I'm not so sure!)

I think I need a fresh perspective.

Your thoughts, please!

  1. I have a really big kitchen that we remodeled last year. It's a lot to keep clean; with high ceilings in this old house, I have to climb to dust. It's nice when you have company, cause there's lots of room and people like to stay in the kitchen. Whatever you like and can afford seems to be the right thing:)

  2. Wow! I recently found your blog and started following...

I love the old Texas House. I live in an Old Texas House myself... not the same style, but old for sure!

I love the pictures of the kitchens... I for Love UNFITTED kitchens. Call me crazy, but if you had another view of the Old TX House kitchen I'd ,for one, love to see it. I happen to like all the bits and pieces of furniture around that kitchen...I think I'd love it just like it is...maybe splash some white paint around. But wouldn't trade the shelving or furniture for new cupboards at all!

    Crazy... I know.

  3. ...AND I meant to say...

I love, love, love the horizontal boards on the wall of the OTH too... so vintage! The red and white transfer ware on that black shelf against the white walls..makes the room too!

    Ok... I'm finished! (smile)
